Stress
Stress is not "just" being busy. It is your body's and mind's way of telling you that the pressure has been too much for too long. Stress can affect anyone – regardless of age, gender, or life situation – and it often shows up physically, mentally, and socially.
What is stress?
Stress is a natural reaction when we experience demands that exceed our resources. In the short term, stress can help us perform at a higher level. But when stress becomes long-lasting, it can lead to exhaustion, racing thoughts, and feelings of not being good enough.
How can stress show up?
Stress can appear in many different ways – and often looks different from person to person.
Some common signs are:
• Heart palpitations, sleep problems, and restlessness in the body
• Difficulty concentrating and forgetfulness
• Irritability, a short temper, or feeling "flat"
• Lack of energy for even small everyday tasks
• Social withdrawal – wanting to be alone
• A sense of losing control or overview
